Revitalizing Stewart Park:

preserving the past, enriching the present, enhancing for the future

In the 1890s, the Ithaca Street Railway opened Renwick Park, a beautiful lakefront destination. In 1921, the City of Ithaca purchased the park and opened it for public use. Now, as we approach the park’s centennial as a city-owned public park on July 4, 2021, Friends of Stewart Park and the City of Ithaca are preparing the park to launch into its next hundred years! Leading up to the Centennial Celebration, we are collaborating to plan, fundraise for, and implement a variety of projects to preserve and bring new life to Stewart Park.

YOU can help build a playground for all!

The Stewart Park Inclusive Playground, coming Fall 2019, will be constructed in part through a community-powered build. Over 800 community members - your friends, neighbors, and co-workers - have helped build this new, accessible play space.
