Fall is in the air which means it’s time for our annual Party for the Park, a festive collaboration between Friends of Stewart Park and Wharton Studio Museum. I have the honor and joy of being a part of these two “sister” organizations which are partnering on exciting park revitalization projects in beautiful Stewart Park.
Looking forward to seeing you Saturday, September 18, in and around the Tea Pavilion as we celebrate the park during its centennial year and you — our wonderful supporters and partners.

FSP is pleased to present Andrew Zepp, Executive Director of the Finger Lakes Land Trust, for another informative virtual presentation in our Centennial series. Andy will discuss the water quality of Cayuga Lake, why the prevalence of toxic algae, FLLT’s landslide conservation efforts to enhance the Lake's water quality and other strategies for improving the health of Cayuga Lake.

Join local historian, Corey Ryan Earle, as he introduces us to Patrick “Patsy” Conway, whose early 20th century Ithaca Band toured the country and the world, though one of their favorite venues was right here in Stewart Park. Discover Ithaca's very own "Music Man" and his impact locally and nationally during the Golden Age of Bands.

One last chance to take a spin on the Stewart Park Carousel this weekend! The Stewart Park Carousel is enjoying a brief extended season and will be open (weather permitting) September 18th & 19th, from 11am to 6pm.

STREETS ALIVE
Our Friends at Bike Walk Tompkins will be hosting Streets Alive! down Cayuga Street on Sunday, September 19th from 1-5 PM. Bike, walk, roll, dance play in the street from Ithaca High School to Court Street. With a bike rodeo, Circus Culture, strolling musicians and activities along the route, and food trucks at Thompson Park.
In addition, Bike Walk Tompkins invites you to Kick off your Streets Alive! weekend with a mellow ride hosted by Finger Lakes Cycling Club on Thursday, September 16th at 6pm! For those who want a relaxed, car-free experience in which to gain confidence, and for those wanting a more easy-going, social ride, this is a slower-paced (9-11 mph) off-road ride on the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. Meet in Stewart Park at 6pm in the parking lot near the tennis courts.

PUBLIC TRANSIT TO TRAILS
Last month, TCAT announced the release of its new TCAT to Trails map, which details how to get to various natural areas and parks throughout the county from TCAT bus stops. The map is the result of a collective effort between Myra Shulman, a former Cornell University senior researcher, and several Cornell students, all with the aim of addressing equitable access to nature.
