Example Splash Pad from Thompson Park

We’re building a bigger, better Splash Pad and Accessible Bathroom!

Friends of Stewart Park is revitalizing Stewart Park by restoring its historic past, creating a safe and accessible park for the present, and re-envisioning for an incredible future. The third and final phase of Stewart Park’s Inclusive Playground will be a bigger, better Splash Pad and Bathroom. The Splash Pad will feature dynamic overhead spray features, water-saving interactive activation, and differentiation in spray zones. The Accessible Bathroom will provide facilities, as well as room change, right in the heart of the playground. Ground was broken on the project January 10, 2024. The Splash Pad is set to open July 4, 2024!

Funding for the Stewart Park Splash Pad project comes in part through an Environmental Protection Fund grant (EPF #210131) administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation

SPLASH PAD
This incredible video from Aquatix shows a similar Splash Pad to what will be installed in Stewart Park, with fully accessible flush ground entrance, light misters for the sensory sensitive and hands-on spray features with wide appeal across age groups.

ACCESSIBLE BATHROOMS
New accessible seasonal bathrooms will also be installed as part of the third phase of our Inclusive Playground. The bathroom building will have three rooms - men’s, women’s and an all gender/ family bathroom, and will feature an adult size changing table. Accessible pathways, seating, picnic areas and landscaping are also part of the project.
