Spring Into Action!

A colorful hot air balloon rises between trees along the waterfront

How lovely to see spring awakening on the waterfront! The warm weather is just ahead and there's lots to do to prepare Stewart Park and the Cayuga Waterfront Trail for the year. Read on for ways you can spring into action with volunteer opportunities.

The new playground bathroom is progressing quickly, thanks to Edger Enterprises and their subcontractors. The completely accessible building features three bathrooms: one male, one female, and one all gender/family with an adult changing table. Interior plumbing and electrical work will be followed by sheetrock, lighting and furnishings. Exterior siding is scheduled to begin soon, to be completed by the end of March. Work on the new splash pad will begin in April.

The project is still on schedule to be completed and opened by the end of June and the July 4th holiday weekend (Stewart Park’s 103rd anniversary).

Join Friends of Stewart Park for its annual waterfront cleanup, Saturday, April 6 from 10 am to noon!

Together we'll practice good stewardship of our park and Cayuga Lake’s waterfront. Dress for the weather, wear boots, and bring gloves, garbage bags, litter grabbers or anything else that will help. Thanks to Zero Waste Ithaca for partnering with FSP on this cleanup.

Meet at the Picnic “Large” Pavilion. If the weather is terrible, we’ll reschedule to April 7th.
