We’re excited to share that Ithaca’s Common Council voted 10–1 to fund a new Park Administrator position to oversee Stewart Park and all of Ithaca's neighborhood parks! This is an important milestone in our advocacy efforts and a meaningful step toward ensuring Ithaca’s parks receive the management and resources they need to thrive.
Thank you to everyone who spoke at public meetings, contacted Council members, and made your voices heard. Your advocacy helped demonstrate how much our community values its parks, and we’re grateful for your time, commitment, and support.
There are still a few steps ahead, including the final budget vote next week and the subsequent HR process to post and fill the position. We’re not quite at the finish line, but this vote brings us closer to making the Park Administrator position a reality.
Thank you for standing with us. We’ll share further updates as the process moves forward!
