Party for the Park Thanks Our 10th Annual Party for the Park was a smashing success! Guests dressed for their favorite decade and we enjoyed a lovely evening in the park with great craft cocktails from the Rosé Rig, food from Ba-Li Cravings, music by London McDaniel and pictures with Jyl’s Photo Booth (see all those pics here). We celebrated retiring carousel operator Dawn Stillwell and volunteer extraordinaire Wayne Stokes with StewarTship Awards. Thank you so much to everyone who attended the party, donated, and bid on silent auction items! Special thanks to all who set up or helped the party run smoothly, including Amy and Andy Monroe, Gretchen Kirchgessner, Savannah Loiacono, Molly Hajjar, and Tonya Vancamp. New Stewart Park Working Supervisor We’re excited to welcome Lloyd McKend as the City’s new Working Supervisor for Stewart Park! Lloyd is now overseeing day-to-day operations and maintenance in the park—and the positive impact of his work is already clear. With 12 years of experience in the City of Ithaca’s Department of Public Works as a Maintainer, Lloyd has been able to hit the ground running, ensuring that Stewart Park remains beautiful, safe, and accessible for everyone. If you see Lloyd in the park, be sure to say hello and thank him for all he’s doing for our beloved Stewart Park! New Lost and Found Stewart Park has a new lost and found! There are now two separate bins on the lake-facing side of the playground bathroom, one for dry items and a separate bin for wet or damp items. FSP has been moving items from the pile in the DPW building over to the new lost and found, so if you lost anything in the park over the summer, check out the new bins to see if it’s been found. We’ll continue to move items over as there is room in the bins, so keep checking back! From our Partner in Park Revitalization, Wharton Studio Museum October is Silent Movie Month in Ithaca and this year marks Wharton Studio Museum's 14th month-long celebration of silent film. WSM is excited to once again be partnering with Cinemapolis and Cornell Cinema. Silent Movie Month features Cornell Cinema's film series Off the Rails! Trains in Silent Cinema which considers the relationship between trains and cinema in the silent era; and we're also screening Buster Keaton's The General (1926) (great train action sequences), as well as The Gold Rush (1925) starring Chaplin at Cinemapolis.
