| Help us keep the SUMMER SPARK in STEWART PARK
Summer is the busiest, most magical time in Stewart Park-- families picnic, kids explore the playground, and community events draw crowds and fill the lawns with fun and activity. More people, however, mean more work to keep the park clean, safe and welcoming to all.
Please support Friends of Stewart Park by making a gift today to help keep the park buzzing all summer long! |
| | |
| | It’s always fun to see Stewart Park really bloom in summer! Splash pad, playground, carousel, picnics, graduation parties, festivals, paddle rentals, tennis, camps and more! The park is full of action!
Please remember to be courteous to your fellow park users and to help keep Stewart Park clean by taking all your trash with you when you leave for the day. Thanks! |

| Picnic Pavilion Ribbon Cutting |
| On Friday, May 30, Friends of Stewart Park and Wharton Studio Museum officially opened and then dedicated the new Addition to the Picnic Pavilion in Stewart Park to the memory of Todd Peterson who worked for the Ithaca Youth Bureau's Stewart Park Day Camp for more than thirty years, as well as with Belle Sherman Elementary School and Running to Places (R2P) Theatre Company. Todd changed the lives of thousands of children for the better. His sister Julia Stewart and R2P's Joey Steinhagen spoke to this. The new addition to the pavilion will be used as storage for the Stewart Park day camp, consolidating the camp into one building. We invite you to watch X Ambassadors touching song Your Town here, and hear about Todd by Sam Harris here. |

| | Wonderful news this week! FSP has been awarded a grant from Legacy Foundation of Tompkins County for another accessible picnic table in Stewart Park, as well as the accessible stone dust surfacing for under the table.
This is a boon for the park, as there is a real need for more accessible picnic tables! We are truly grateful for this important funding!
Legacy Foundation continues to support the revitalization of Stewart Park with recent grants for the updating of interpretive signs on each of the park’s four main buildings, and an adult-size changing table in the new seasonal bathrooms by the splash pad.
Thank you, Legacy Foundation, for helping make Stewart Park welcoming for all! |

| | | THANK YOU! A group of students from Boynton Middle School held a bake sale, as part of a climate action project, and raised money to benefit the Pollinator Pathway!
Student spokesperson Zinnia, says, "We chose the pollinator pathway because we wanted to support your mission to create more areas and plants for pollinators. Pollinators are an extremely important part of our environment that support ecosystems and grow native plants to improve the local natural environment. Pollinators help to grow our food and sustain our lives. Thank you for your work to support and create healthy environments that improve the local ecosystem and allow pollinators to thrive."
Thank you, Zinnia, William, Riley, Alin, and Avery! We'll earmark your generous donation for a pollinator garden in Stewart Park! If you'd like to learn more about the Pollinator Pathway, visit stewartpark.org/pollinatorpathway |
